Can I join NZMCA if I own a caravan? Yes. In fact you do not even need to own a motorhome or campervan to be a member of the Association, only an interest in motor caravanning.
Where do you get a 230 volt electrical inspection done? The Members Handbook has a list of Members who are electrical inspectors. If one of them cannot help you, try your local power supplier and ask who their contracted inspectors are. If they cannot help you look in the Yellow Pages under Electrical Inspections.
If I have resigned from the Association and want to rejoin, can I have my same number again? Yes, providing you rejoin within two years of resigning, and backpay the outstanding subscriptions. If you have been away for longer than two years, or do not want to pay the outstanding subscription, you must make a new application, pay the joining fee, and receive a new number.
If I sell my van, do I get a new number? No, the term "van number" is a misnomer. The number is YOUR membership number, and remains with you no matter how often you change your van. Don't forget, if you sell your van, please remove the entire wings, so the number will be removed from the van anyway.
How can we get the "Wings" off the van when we want to sell it or if we resign? Wings must be removed when selling your van or if you resign your membership of the Association. Don't just remove the number from within the wings, remove the entire wings as a non-member may buy the van. The wings logo should only appear on vans that belong to current financial members of the Association. To remove them, apply heat to the wings. Use a hair dryer or similar. This will soften the adhesive and allow you to peel the wings off. (DO NOT use a paint burner!).
If we have some ideas that we want discussed, how do we go about it? Discuss these with your local Area Committee. The NZMCA holds a Forum each year where ideas and issues that come from the "Areas" are discussed and put to the Executive Committee for consideration. Each of the 24 Areas appoints a delegate to attend the Forum and all matters are voted on by the Delegates.
My wings are curling up. Is there something wrong with the glue? No, there is nothing wrong with the glue. Either you have not cleaned the surface properly, or you have wet the wings to move them into place. Clean the surface thoroughly with a detergent to get off any road film or polish, and then rinse it thoroughly and make sure it is dry. Place the wings on dry, and they should stay there for years.
