2018 Spring Clean Schedule

NZMCA Spring Clean Underway

The NZMCA’s Spring Clean 2018 project – which involves hundreds of members nationwide volunteering their time to clean up their communities – is underway again. Although many of the events are held as part of Area Rallies, you do not need to attend the rally to participate. All members are welcome to come along at the time and place specified below, to lend a hand. The first Areas to get stuck into clean-up projects were Nelson/ Tasman and Rotorua. Areas which have confirmed dates and venues for their Spring Cleans are as follows:

(At the time of updating this page both Nelson/Tasman and Rotorua NZMCA Areas had already completed their respective Spring Cleans).

Far North

Time: 10:00am – 14th September, Ahipara Bay. 

Clean up will be of the beach front and surrounding area. Meet at Ahipara Holiday Park, 168 Takahe Road, Ahipara. Contact: Raewyn Jobe, 027 483 4071 or


9am, 15th – 16th September, Tui Glen NZMCA Park, 2 Claude Brookes Drive, Henderson.

Clean up will be of the Tui and Cramwell Reserves and planting at Tui Glen NZMCA Park. Contact: Les Presling, 027 471 8878,


27th January 2019, Tapu Beach, Thames Coast Road, Tapu Village, Coromandel.

Clean Up will be of the Tapu Beach coastline.  Meet at Tapu War Memorial Hall. In conjunction with the Tapu School pupils & Locals. Contact: Michael Cullen, (07) 871 9006, 021 242 4220 or

Hauraki / Coromandel

Time: 10:00am – 6th October 2018, Simpsons Beach (Wharekaho), State Highway 25 – 4km north of Whitianga.

Central Bay of Plenty

Time: 9:00am – 18th August 2018 – NZMCA Waihi Beach Park, Emerton Road, Waihi.

Time: 9:00am – Date to be confirmed in October – Anzac Bay – Anzac Cove, Bowentown Domain, Seaforth Road, Bowentown, Waihi Beach.

Eastern Bay of Plenty

Time: 9:30am – 8th September 2018 (Morning Tea at 9:00am).

Clean Up will be of the Stop Bank surrounding Opotiki Township.  Meet at the Opotiki NZMCA Park, St John Street, Opotiki.  Will be done in conjunction with the Opotiki District Council.  Please bring a Garden Rake & Fork.  Contact: Barry McPhee, (07) 315 6179, 027 454 3727 or


16th June, Ngongotaha Stream, Meet at the Ngongotaha NZMCA Park, 61 Ngongotaha Road, Rotorua.

Lake Taupo

Time: 9:00am - 2nd September, Whakiapo Bay. Clean Up will be of the Coastline and Reserve.  Meet at Whakiapo Bay off Mapara Road, Whakiapo Bay. Contact: David Firkin, (07) 378 8043, 027 431 3666 or

Hawke’s Bay

10am, 9th September. Meet at the southern end of Marine Parade beside dump station.

22nd September. Corbett Park and beach, South Rd (SH5), Oakura.

Date to be confirmed. Cameron Blockhouse, SH3, Kaitoke, in conjunction with Kaitoke Primary School.

Time: 1:30pm – 22nd September.  Longburn Community Hall.

Time: 9:00am - 22nd September – Kaitoke Regional Park, Waterworks Road, State Highway 2, Upper Hutt.

Ranger will organise Tree Planting and clean up & beautification of the area.  Meet at the Main BBQ Area in the Campground.  Contact: Diane Robertson, 027 231 3930 or


2pm, September 15th. Kaikoura Esplanade beach, Esplanade Rd, Kaikoura.

This will be a beach clean-up held in conjunction with the Kaikoura District Council. Contact: Ian Simmons, 021 566 516.


29th September, McLeans Forest. Cleran Up will be of the reserve.

South Canterbury

Time: 9:30am – 15th September. Stratheona Reserve, Stratheona Road, Pleasant Point.

Clutha Valley

9.30am, Saturday 15th September. Roxborough Racecourse, Roxborough East Rd, Roxborough.
