A member once said that South Island people are ‘nicer’. While expressing such assumptions may be a bit tricky, it becomes a bit more plausible when proven on a cold and rainy night in Christchurch where the effects of Cyclone Debbie were just starting to be felt.
The Noel Leeming branch on Moorhouse Avenue, one of the largest in New Zealand is a stand-alone super store so members had to drive themselves from all over- and they did, over 57 of them, (out of the 90 who booked in) smiling and friendly as opposed to the scowling and wary faces of the Auckland crowd (but to be fair, living and driving in Auckland can make anyone grumpy and wary lol).
And they had more reasons to smile as they were treated to Heineken, warm quiche and rolls freshly baked from the store’s working ovens and several chances to win spot prizes thoughtfully provided by the Noel Leeming staff.
All in all, it was a great night made possible by an amazing branch and members who took the opportunity to attend.
