In autumn Arrowtown truly comes into its own, as the leaves on the trees turn dazzling gold, red and brown before dropping to the ground in preparation for winter. Over the course of a few weeks in April the forested hill faces that overlook this tiny gold-rush town transform into a richly coloured backdrop and the always photogenic Arrowtown becomes breathtakingly beautiful.

Our favourite part of our favourite season is a community celebration that draws thousands to town over the course of six days.  2023 will be the 37th time we've held the Arrowtown Autumn Festival and it will run from the 20 to 25 April.  There's something for everyone, from the annual art and photography competitions to Pie, Pint & Pinot, an extremely congenial way to enjoy handmade pies, craft beer and local wine.

The locals'  and visitors favourite alike is the ASB Market & Community Day on Saturday 22nd April.  The day includes multiple stages with various talented musicians and performers, street entertainment, vintage car display and over 120 market stalls selling New Zealand made products, all of which creates a welcoming and festive atmosphere.

There’s just so much going on: workshops for the kids, an outdoor movie, fun dog show, the infamous quiz night, country music concert and of course the local Arrow Miners Band along with the Buckingham Belles and Mini Belles. Watch the experts compete in the New Zealand Gold Panning Championships and join in with the duck race down the Arrow River. Learn about the history of our beautiful town from the locals during the historical walks on offer.

The Arrowtown Autumn Festival is an iconic New Zealand event with something for every age and interest.  Most of the events on the program are free, while others are ticketed.

Enjoy the beautiful view over the Arrowtown basin! We're incredibly fortunate to be able to park at 901 Malaghans Road, the property of Ian Macauley. Please note - this is a very busy road, so please look for the signs and be ready to pull off the road safely. 

• Arrive on Friday, April 21st from 1 pm and depart by midday on Sunday, 23rd April 2023. 
• $10.00 per van for the entire weekend stay - a donation will be given to KG Medical NZ. 
• BUS (open top): there will be a bus to the festival on Saturday at a small cost. 
• Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash at all times.     

No bookings necessary, cash payment on arrival.
