Bring your motorhomes to explore the gorgeous properties on offer for the 36th Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival.

Just as importantly, you can meet the passionate gardeners who work all year round to open their hearts and homes to visitors for the annual spring festival, on from October 27 to November 5.

On the flip-side of our programme, you’ll see what’s on offer from the Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail, on at the same time as our festival.

Our 10-day festival offers a feast of private and public gardens, open right around Taranaki Maunga – and 14 of them have pop-over motorhome parking.

Alongside the gardens, we offer a mixture of free and paid events, plus guided walks and tours, so, there’s something for everyone.

You can enjoy high tea in a stunning garden, take a botanical art class in nature, learn to make wreaths from plant material, and experience a Japanese tea ceremony. There’s a double shot of gin tasting, a delicious plant-based platter workshop and, for people with low vision, there’s an audio-described garden tour.

And you can celebrate life at a classic garden party with sub-tropical surrounds, become awash with music at a jazz soiree in a public park and find treasures at a craft market in an arty rural garden. One country garden is fundraising for Horses Helping Humans, which supports young people to regulate their emotions.

The Mitre 10 Speaker Series, which is free apart from the cost of garden entry, covers everything from growing bamboo to bananas, learning how to create hanging baskets to propagating plants, how to plant a food forest to learning about the past. There are even lively tours taken by a “non-gardener”.

Our dedicated and diligent gardeners are our stars – that’s why they’ve earned so many from the New Zealand Gardens Trust. Three have been identified as gardens of significance (4 stars), seven of national significance (5 stars) and five of international significance (6 stars).

Festival programmes are free and include a map for visitors to plan their garden visits. Please call us on 0800 746 363 or check out our website www.gardenfestnz.co.nz to sign up to get a free programme posted to you.

During the Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival, you’re invited to visit our Festival Hub within Volkswagen Taranaki at WR Phillips on Devon St West for tickets, coffee, giveaways and itinerary advice from our garden gurus.

We’d love to see you there, or anywhere around our magnificent maunga, enjoying what the Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival does best – welcoming you, our visitors, and celebrating the beauty of our place, Taranaki.
