After two years of covid related chaos casting a grey cloud over events and festivals across New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay’s world-renowned Art Deco Festival Napier is back in 2023 with it’s most diverse and immersive Festival yet.
Over four days in February, the celebration takes over the streets, venues, parks, restaurants, cafes, theatres, bars and homes of Hawke’s Bay (and even the skies above), with hundreds of events to choose from. It’s a summer festival like no other!
The much loved signature events are returning, as are the free community events such as the Vintage Car Parade, Flying Displays, Soap Box Derby and Fashion on the Foreshore. New events for 2023 are sure to excite and entertain, namely New Zealand icon Hollie Smith performing an exclusive concert at the Century Theatre and the Hangi and Show, where you can engross yourself in the culture and stories of Hawke’s Bay Māori post 1931 earthquake.
The Napier Art Deco Festival has grown into one of the greatest shin-digs you’ll ever attend. But more than that, it is a celebration of the resilience and spirit of the people of Hawke’s Bay who, 92 years ago, courageously rebuilt their town and their lives following the catastrophic 1931 earthquake; and of the vibrant, creative Eats Coast community Hawke’s Bay and grown into.
Whether you are an avid Art Deco enthusiast, love the romance of a bygone era or simply want to kick back and have a great time with friends and family in our lively little region, the Art Deco Festival 2023 is guaranteed to have something for everyone!
