How do I find contacts for Self-Containment, Electrical & Plumbing?
Volunteerism is the backbone of the NZMCA.
Without the network of Area Committee members, Self-Containment Officers, Electrical Inspectors, Registered Plumbers and Emergency Drivers, it would certainly be challenging to provide the kind of services that are offered today for members.
But then again the key word is 'voluntary'; so we ask that you be mindful about contacting them within the normal working hours. Also, the lists and services are for members only which is why you need to log into the NZMCA website first.
Some other important things to remember:
- Take note of Area of Interest. This is determined by your current postal address. This determines what content appears under 'What's On' and 'Rallies & Events' as some would be specific just to your area.
- The list of volunteers will be specific to your area as well. But should you be in a different area and want to find volunteers specific to that area, simply select what that area is in the Contacts drop-down menu.
- Not all self-containment services are free. Some Self-Containment Officers may charge for their services. This will be indicated on the listing.
- No available volunteer in an area? If this happens, contact the Area Chairperson or Area Secretary for recommendations; they may know someone who is not necessarily on the list. You can find the Chairperson and Secratary contact details under the Contact Search drop-down menu as well.
So are you ready to look up an area contact? Guide below:
Log into the Members Portal
Did you get a login error? We have asked members to update their logins to a more secure email address and custom password combination. If you've entered a Membership Number and MAC Code (this is the four letter combination on the front of your membership card) and received a 'Login failed' prompt it's more than likely you've already updated your login and are now using your email address. So what email address is being asked for? This would be the email address you provided for your membership. To reset your password, enter this email address on the Password Reset field (which is prompted when you select the 'Forgot Password' link).
This is your Members Portal
If you've succeeded in logging in, this what the Members Portal looks like. It will tell you your joining date and when it's time to renew your subscription. If you're up for renewal, you can pay it via secure credit-card payment by simply selecting the 'Renew Membership' tab. You can also purchase a DOC/NZMCA Campsite pass as well and order the wings-numbers decal for free. To find the Contact Search drop-down menu, scroll down- it will be on the right-hand side of the page.
Contact Search drop-down menu
The default area would be your Area of Interest, but you can change the area to any NZMCA Area. So what is an NZMCA Area? An NZMCA Area is based loosely on actual geographical area; eg. Auckland NZMCA Area does not include South Auckland, so areas like Takanini, Papakura and any further south are part of the Counties NZMCA Area. As NZMCA Areas are arranged on the Drop Down menu in a North to South arrangement, check on the next NZMCA area just in case the location you're looking for is not on the area you first looked at.
The list is ever changing and we do our best to update the details as often as we can. If a search brings zero results for a specific area, contact the Area Chairperson or Area Secretary for recommendations; they may know someone who is not necessarily on the list. You can find the Chairperson and Secretary contact under the Contact Search drop-down menu as well. For any inaccuracies on contact details, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
