Members love McKeown's pricing
The NZMCA has received plenty of positive feedback from members on the transparency of the pricing with the McKeown’s FuelCard deal – the new NZMCA partner with a fast-growing South Island network.
Members have compared the deal to other arrangements that apply discounts against terms like ‘National Price’ and ‘Zone Price’ which while they sound good can be difficult to understand.
For the benefit of members looking at the NZMCA’s McKeown FuelCard deal, we asked McKeown’s Sales & Marketing Manager Paul Lindsay to explain how their pricing works, using diesel as the example since it is the largest selling product amongst Association members.
“Our McKeown’s CardFuel 24/7 network is based on a very simple ‘network price’ for the diesel so that irrespective of location or remoteness of the site where you fill up, the price is the same,” says Paul.
“The only exception to this, at present, is our Christchurch outlet, which is 3 cents per litre below the ‘network price’.
“Our discount to NZMCA members is off the pump price which you can read in any of our pumps at any time.
“It is a very simple approach, developed in conjunction with our customers, who have always told us they want a clear and transparent pricing policy which enables them to know, on any given day, what they are paying in real terms – rather than a discount off an arbitrary figure that they never knew.” It’s an approach, says Paul, that has major benefits for customers. “For example, members have quickly appreciated that our McKeown pricing model is incrementally cheaper to the customer at the more remote sites away from State Highway 1 pricing.
“To reflect, this we have provided a snapshot of recent South Island, State Highway 1 and Wanaka retail pricing vs McKeown’s FuelCard pricing as a best worst case – depending on how you view it!”
