Renowned for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere – not to mention the stunning natural environment – the Hauraki-Coromandel area is one of NZMCA members’ favourite holiday destinations.
With 400 kilometres of coastline, sparkling blue waters and windy sandy beaches are around every corner; while native rain forests, giant kauri and volcanic hills make the area a walker’s paradise. What’s more, the region’s natural beauty has made it a haven for artists, with many vibrant galleries, studios and markets dotted throughout the area. Then there’s the history – of gold mining and gum digging – remnants of which are still available to be enjoyed close-up in Waihi or along the bike trail which winds through the Karangahake Gorge. And on top of all that, there’s a warm welcome awaiting NZMCA members in the region’s five Motorhome Friendly towns – Coromandel, Whitianga, Whangamata, Paeroa and Waihi.
We'll be featuring all Campsaver Campgrounds by region over time, keep an eye out for further articles, including next week’s West Coast! For more information about the Campsaver Program, click here.
