When the NZMCA Board decided to purchase the Manapouri Motorhome and Caravan Park last year, we knew it would become a popular NZMCA Park. Not only because of its layout and magic location, but also because of the existing campsite facilities.
Members often tell us they want the option of more facilities at NZMCA Parks on a user-pays basis and Manapouri fitted the bill perfectly.
You can still stay on site for the very affordable rate of $5 per adult per night (children stay free); and essential services like freshwater, the dump station, and rubbish and recycling bins will continue to remain free to visiting members. But you now have the option of paying a small fee for some extra conveniences and creature comforts (visit the NZMCA App or online Travel Directory for the fees).
Following the successful user-pays power trial at Ngongotaha NZMCA Park, we’ve partnered with KiwiCamp again to begin turning on some of the facilities available at Manapouri. From today, you can use your KiwiCash key to charge your e-bikes and access power. Perfect for the colder months!
We’re also working on converting the vehicle wash down bay and coin-operated laundry facilities over to KiwiCash. A cashless system makes life easier and safer for our volunteer Park Custodians. It also makes it easier for us to provide members with more of the same user-pays facilities at other parks down the track.
Thanks to KiwiCamp, members can pick up one of 200 free KiwiCash keys on site to help set up an account. You can also purchase a KiwiCash key for $5 from The Church Bar and Eatery in Manapouri or find one here. In future, KiwiCash keys will be accessible on your mobile phone too. This summer, we’re aiming to trial other user-pays facilities at Manapouri including bathroom and kitchen facilities, and a boom gate to help monitor usage and allow members to book a campsite in advance. This trial will help us plan for the future by better understanding what works best for members using our parks. We’ll let you know more about the trial, including how it will work for you, later in the year. Our team of volunteer Park Custodians including an on-site Custodian will also be available to help out if you get stuck.
