Your Kiwi Summer Road Trip starts today

For the first time this summer the NZMCA will be holding a competition on this very website, bigger than ever before, with a range of incredible prizes to give away!

What’s a ‘Kiwi Summer Road Trip’?

Summer for us Kiwi’s is a time of tradition. It’s all about making the most of the great weather, the beach, and the backyard barbecues - while making memories with Friends & Family.

For NZMCA members in particular, summer = the best time for a road trip. There’s nothing better than hopping in your motor caravan and heading out on the road. Whether your destination is the same place you go every summer, somewhere new & exciting, or multiple different locations – the road trip is an essential part of the kiwi summer experience.

So what’s the competition about?

We’re on the hunt to find the number 1 favourite places to travel to across New Zealand for pies, coffee, fish & chips, and ice-cream. These are 4 key ingredients to road tripping during summer time because there’s simply nothing better than stopping off mid-travel to get one.

To find the best place to get a pie, coffee, fish & chips and ice-cream members need to nominate their favourite establishment. Once members have submitted their nominations, the top 5 places will be shortlisted. Members will then be able to vote on their favourite out of the finalists, 5 for all categories. Once all votes have been collected, the place with the highest vote for each category will be crowned the NZMCA #1 Place for Pies/Ice-creams/Coffees/Fish & Chips.

It starts today!

The competition begins today 8 November and ends 28 February. Nomination opens at 4pm and all nominations entered in the next 24 hours go into the draw to win a brand new iPhone XR.

And this is just the first of a lot of great prizes to be given away up to the 28th of February 2020!

The nomination form will appear on the official 'Kiwi Summer Road Trip' page. This is a members-only page so you need to log in before you nominate. (see below)

Click here to go to the Kiwi Summer Road Trip page and make sure you have your entry ready when nominations open at 4pm on the page!

Lakeland House Restaurant 88 Waihi Rd Waihi Village Turangi 3381 Their coffee is amazing and one not to be missed when travelling through the central North Island. If you want a meal there too the food is also amazing but best of all is this place is paradise and while a bit out of the way it delivers, the best service and the best hidden retreat you could wish for

I like a nice strong coffee and Cafe Melbourne on Pollen St, Thames, Coromandel does them very well. The long black was so good, I followed it with a double shot short black that kept me buzzing for some time while browsing the nearby op-shops.

During summer months the Eggcentric Cafe at Flaxmill Bay, Coromandel Peninsula, has a selection of homemade ice creams that are very good. Other food available too, with fresh garden salads on the side.

For a delicious selection of pies, we always stop off at the Turangi bakehouse. You may have a slight wait to be served as always very busy being so popular. Difficult to choose which filling.
