Report is out: here's how the Responsible Camping Working Group will tackle freedom camping

With the summer season a few months away, expect issues around freedom camping to make the rounds again. But also expect the Responsible Camping Working Group of which the association’s own CEO Bruce Lochore is a part of, to have something in place to address these issues with the goal of allowing campers and locals to enjoy the summer.

In their July 31st report to Tourism Minister Kelvin Davis, the working group put together recommendations for managing camping this upcoming summer season. The minister has agreed to these recommendations and $8.5 million has been released ‘for a package of initiatives that will support responsible camping’.

But the working group also knows that these are only short-term solutions to issues that may time some time to be resolved.
