- Thank you
As we come to the end of National Volunteer Week (June 17 -23) here in New Zealand, I’d like to congratulate all the many members – both past and present - whose selfless voluntary work has made the NZMCA the great organisation that it is.
It has been that way since our beginnings back in 1956 when Andy Anderson and just a handful of dedicated helpers got stuck in to fulfil their vision for an organisation representing what was then the very new leisure activity of motorhoming.
In the following years that spirit was carried on by a growing band of willing volunteers who built the strong foundations of the NZMCA with their time and energy. These days, of course, we have long passed the stage where our administrative functions could be handled by volunteers; however our volunteer members are still the backbone of the Association – at all levels.
That’s something we don’t take for granted in today’s world, where many organisations have lost their volunteer base. In fact, it’s been heartening recently to see the feedback from our membership survey which indicates our volunteer ethos is alive and well.
So, to all our volunteers, from Area Committees, our SIGS, to our hard-Working Self-Containment Officers, our Park Custodians, Technical Advisors, Events parkers, National Rally organisers and helpers, the Disciplinary Committee, our various Working Groups, the members who help out at working bees, the REO Restoration workers, and Spring Clean events, to the Board itself, we salute you.
On behalf of the Board, the National Office and our entire membership; please accept our heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers – we simply wouldn’t be the organisation we are today, without you.
