DOC and NZMCA have worked together to offer the following options for a campsite pass refund. Applying for a refund is optional but you won’t be able to use the pass if you elect to receive a refund.
Full refund – 5-month pass
You may apply for a full refund if you have not used your 5-month pass.
Partial refund – 5-month pass
The 5-month pass was available for 6 weeks (30% of its normal duration) before the lockdown commenced. If you have used your 5-month pass prior to the lockdown you may apply for a partial refund of $122.50 (representing 70% of the full cost).
Partial refund – 12-month pass
The 12-month pass was available for 8.5 months (70% of its normal duration) before the lockdown commenced. If you purchased a 12-month pass you may apply for a partial refund of $88.50 (representing 30% of the full cost).
IMPORTANT: The deadline for refund applications is Friday 29 May 2020. This is a good faith refund policy so please note your request will be recorded for future reference.
1. How do I apply for a refund? Please email [email protected] by 29 May 2020 with the following information:
If you do not have access to email, phone the NZMCA National Office on 09 298 5466 to request your refund. Please do not apply for a refund by post.
2. How will your refund will be paid
3. How long will it take to process my refund?
The NZMCA will endeavour to process your request as soon as possible, however given the volume of campsite passes issued to date and our current working environment under Alert Level 2, please allow up to 15 working days from the date of application.
4. Do I need to apply for a refund if I still want to use my pass before 30 June?
Applying for a refund is optional and you are welcome to hold on to your pass if you still wish to use it, however you won’t be able to use the pass if you elect to receive a refund.
5. Why is a Refund the only available option?
In this instance, a refund was deemed to be the fairest and simplest method of compensation. Date extensions and discounts on future pass applications will create a complex and cost-prohibitive process for both DOC and the NZMCA to manage. Given the current circumstances, this refund policy is designed to be as fair as possible to all campsite pass holders, while managing administration costs. We have sold over 2,300 campsite passes this season and assessing refunds on case-by-case basis would create a significant administrative burden on the Association.
Please note: The NZMCA will manage the refund process so please direct all requests to [email protected].
