We've said this before and we'll say it again; TomTom is the Apple of GPS devices. The devices are cutting-edge and the company is relentless in growing GPS applications beyond stand-alone devices which bodes well for TomTom devotees who may want TomTom wearable devices and even action cams.
But that is not to say they've neglected their traditional devices. We've talked about their GO series which was their attempt to modernise the traditional stand-alone GPS and which was met with disappointment for not having the one feature that GPS devotees demand of their devices- the ability to put in custom Points Of Interest (POIs).
But credit them for actually listening and months later, lo and behold, they make an announcement that you can now put in POIs into your TomTom GO device; now that's truly world-class service.
We have a sneaking suspicion that the change done for the GO series to enable the loading of custom POI's was more for commerce rather than customer goodwill. If you look at the TomTom website, the only GPS product featured are GO Series models. It's possible that TomTom will ultimately drop all models and sell just the GO series. For now, you can purchase the VIA models which start at $199 and go all the way up to $249.
