Hororata Highland Games

Make your way to Hororātā Domain to experience a taste of Scotland this November!

Step into the heart of our rural community for a Scottish festival with a Kiwi twist. From caber tossing to Highland dancing, bagpipes to traditional food, the Hororata Highland Games is packed with culture, entertainment, competition, and country fun.

Hear the skirl of the pipes, watch the strength of the athletes in events like the Hororata Stones, and experience the energy of over 100 Highland dancers. This is more than a spectator event – all ages can get involved and have a go.

With a Scottish farmyard, sheep shearing, medieval knights, live music, carnival rides and over 120 market stalls, there’s something for everyone.

A truly unique day out celebrating strength, culture, and community.

Held in the Hororata Domain in the heart of Selwyn, just under an hour from Christchurch or Ashburton.

This is a community event run by the Hororata Community Trust. All profits are invested back into the community.

Certified Self-Contained Motorcaravan Parking for NZMCA members will be available. Parking will be run by NZMCA Volunteers.

Where: Please enter through Gate 1 (formerly known as Gate C) at the venue 
Arrive From: 12pm Friday 7th November (Gates will close at 8pm)
Depart By: 5pm Sunday 9th November
Cost: $10 per van per night - No need to book!

Dogs are allowed in the motorhome area but not into the event venue.

Please note: there will be no access to event toilets until 9 am Saturday, and they will be closed at 5 pm Saturday night. Vehicles must be certified self-contained. Camping in tents is not permitted.
