Taranaki Garden Festival

Always refreshed and with an abundance of events, the Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival will open for its 38th year, from 31 October – 9 November 2025.

This premiere garden festival in Taranaki named the NZEA New Zealand Favourite Event of the year in 2023, is ever evolving and always welcoming.

With its roots going back to 1987, the Taranaki Garden Festival presents more NZGT star gardens than any other region or festival and continues to delight people from Taranaki, New Zealand and overseas.

“For this year’s festival, people can visit more than 40 gardens, including five new private gardens and two returning after a short break,” says Festival Manager Jessica Parker. “We offer you an intriguing mixture of unique, stunning and world-class gardens, each with their own story to tell.”

Alongside the huge variety of private and public gardens, the festival presents an enticing schedule of free and paid events, ranging from a Japanese Tea Ceremony to gardens enriched with high teas, botanical drawing, wellbeing sessions and information-packed demonstrations. There are also day excursions – including a train journey and urban and twilight garden tours. “There really is something for everyone,” says Jessica.

Festival fans can self-drive around the majestic Taranaki Maunga (mountain) to explore the beauty of this region. “Many of our gardens welcome NZMCA members – just look for the icon throughout the programme to help you plan.”
