Steps for existing self-containment officers operating under NZS 5465:2001

  • Step 1: Apply in writing to selfcontainment@nzmca.org.nz signalling your interest to become a self-containment inspector.
  • Step 2: You will be sent an online link to the NZMCA Self-Containment Inspector assessment, along with digital copies of the required resources. You can also find the technical guidelines and inspection form under the Resources section HERE.
  • Step 3: After successfully passing the online assessment, you will receive a confirmation letter and a new vehicle inspector kit from the NZMCA.

How to become a new Self-Containment Inspector with the NZMCA if you are a registered plumber:

  • Step 1: Apply in writing to selfcontainment@nzmca.org.nz to become a self-containment inspector and attach a copy of your current PGDB registration card.
  • Step 2: You will receive an email from the NZMCA confirming receipt of your application along with a form for you to sign confirming your contact details, that you have read, understood, and agree to follow the NZMCA’s technical guidelines, inspection form, and all other instructions while inspecting vehicles for the NZMCA.  The technical guidelines and inspection form can be found under the Resources section HERE.
  • Step 3: Upon receipt of your signed form, you will receive a confirmation letter and vehicle inspector kit from the NZMCA.
