Our trusted partner Interislander have been taking all sorts of vehicles across Cook Strait for over 60 years, so they know a thing or two about looking after you and your vehicle as you sail between Wellington and Picton. Their three ferries, Kaitaki, Aratere and Kaiarahi, cross the Cook Strait throughout the day.
Cruising on the Interislander is a must-do experience for all Kiwis and views of the Queen Charlotte Sound and Wellington Harbour are unmissable and even better from the many viewing points on the ferries. Each ferry is equipped with wifi, a shop, cafes, bars, children's play areas and lounges that cater to your specific needs - whether that be an all-inclusive experience, a quiet space or a space dedicated to families, and Interislander also feature cinemas on Kaitaki and Aratere.

One return trip will save you the cost of your first year's NZMCA membership. The discount applies to all fares (excluding equestrian and towing trucks above 3.5 tonne), including foot passenger fares. It's generally higher for vehicles of 7m+.

Membership won't verify? The issue could be a spelling error, the wrong email, or it could be time to renew. Check whether it's the right email by logging in to the members portal - if you sign in successfully it's correct and you can check online if you need to renew. Please keep in mind, if you continue to book without verification no discount will be applied, and the booking will be completed at standard retail rates. Call National Office on 09 298 5466 if you need to update your email.

Easy drive on and off the Ferry
If you’re towing a trailer or caravan, or crossing with a Motorhome or 5th Wheeler, choose to travel on Kaitaki or Kaiarahi which both allow you to drive on one end and exit out the other.
The link spans are flat enough to avoid scraping the bottom of your vehicles when driving on and off. Kaiarahi also has larger vehicle capacity than the other ferries.
